There are a lot of regulations that are putting the crypto industry’s growth to a halt. There could be different reasons for this. One, it could be true that central banks fear the potential of blockchain technology considering that there is no need for a third party to confirm transactions. John McAfee is looking to change all this.
The controversial computer software pioneer John McAfee is looking to run for president in 2020. He plans to serve as the public’s advocate when it comes to matters relating to cryptocurrencies. McAfee wrote on Twitter that “In spite of past refusals, I have decided to again run for POTUS in 2020”. He mentioned that “If asked again by the Libertarian party, I will run with them. If not, I will create my own party. I believe this will best serve the crypto community by providing the ultimate campaign platform for us”.
John McAfee is also known for his comment about the bullish future of the crypto market. He believes that institutional investors are already looking to participate in the market. He also added that the top ten cryptos will most likely experience growth. And for this reason, he suggests that investors should diversify their portfolio at this point. When asked what made him think of this prediction, he answered that one should simply check the news and “use their heads”.
A Prominent Figure in Crypto Industry
This wasn’t the first time that John McAfee tried to run for president. In 2016, he was unsuccessful to represent the Libertarian Party. However, over recent years, John McAfee shows his belief in cryptos. And yes, that is despite the lows that the current market is experiencing.
However, does this mean that we are seeing a pro-crypto future president? Don’t get too ahead of yourself now. In fact, John McAfee mentioned that “don’t think that I have a chance of winning. I do not”. He added that “But what truly changes America is not the president, but the process of creating one. If my following is sufficient I get to stand the world’s largest stage and talk to the everyone, as I did last time, to tell the truth”.
McAfee thinks outside the box when it comes to cryptos. In fact, in late May, he announced creating a physical cryptocurrency that is called “McAfee Redemption Unit”. Unlike digital currencies that are simply based online, this will be printed on paper and he described it as “linked to the blockchain, redeemable, convertible, collectible”.
Not the Best Reputation
John McAfee doesn’t have the best reputation both in and out of the crypto market. For instance, he drew scrutiny in recent years as he was included as a person of interest in some murder case in Belize. Though there wasn’t any charge against him nor was he arrested, McAfee chose to leave the country and relocate to the US.
Recently McAfee revealed that he charges $105,000 per tweet in order to promote both cryptocurrencies and ICOs. And for this reason, it is important to take a closer look at his intention. Is he simply trying to raise his profile in order to charge higher as he promotes certain cryptocurrencies and ICOs?
