Oscar Winner Calls Microsoft’s Crypto Mining Patent ‘Satanic’

  • Microsoft has filed a crypto mining patent under a number with three 6s in it.
  • Russian Oscar-winning director Nikita Mikhalkov has called it satanic.
  • The controversial patent is supposed to harness body activity data to mine cryptocurrency.

Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov, who won an Oscar for The Barber of Siberia, has joined the line of conspiracy theorists whose prime target has been Bill Gates. He has recently accused Gates’ company of creating a satanic system that’s going to “microchip the entire human race”. His claim is based on the fact that Microsoft’s crypto mining patent was filed under the patent number WO2020060606A1.

The 060606 part is alarming… Is it a coincidence or an intentional selection of such a symbol, which in the Apocalypse of John is referred to as The Number of the Beast?

Nikita Mikhalkov explaining his conspiracy theory.

Mikhalkov espoused his theory a few days ago when he appeared on Besogan TV, which roughly translates to Devil-Beater. This conspiracy theory, however, is not the brainchild of the celebrated director. It’s been spreading around social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit for weeks, getting picked up by many big names from the crypto world, including John McAfee.

McAfee’s controversial tweet has been retweeted a few thousand times, while the YouTube video of Mikhalkov’s interview has over 200,000 views. Obviously, there’s a lot of interest in this conspiracy theory, but is based, even remotely, on facts?

‘666’ in Microsoft’s Crypto Mining Patent?

In a response to his own tweet, John McAfee said that Microsoft’s crypto mining patent was “from 2006”.

However, according to the data found on Google Patents database, that’s not true. It says the patent request was filed in 2016 and published in March 2020. Admittedly, there is something fishy about the details from the Google Patents database. If you do a Google search on the patent number, you will get back a result dated to Jun 6, 2006.

One thing that’s clear is that the patent is not meant to “microchip the human race”. In the patent description, there’s no use of the words microchip or digital certificate.

Instead, Microsoft’s crypto mining patent is meant to be a system that would use human body activity to mine cryptocurrency. The data tracking would be conducted through the use of devices like smartphones, smartwatches, and similar.

Is Body Activity Data the Future of Crypto-Mining?

Microsoft’s crypto mining patent filed under the patent number WO2020060606A1 is actually called the Cryptocurrency System Using Body Activity Data. It’s based around the theory that the energy for mining cryptocurrencies can be generated from the human body.

It’s proposed that brain waves or body heat can be used to create enough energy for crypto mining. This way, people would be able to do crypto mining while watching TV, playing games, or doing any other everyday activity.

The reward for the crypto-miners would be calculated based on data collected by thermal sensors, sensors, cameras, etc. By using this system, Microsoft could be able to remove the need for large crypto-mining infrastructure.

Although the idea seems far-fetched at the moment, no one can say for certain what the future holds. According to the people from the Dutch Institute of Human Obsolescence, such systems might be the future of crypto mining.

In 2018, the institute conducted an experiment to prove that the human body could be used to mine cryptocurrencies. They designed a special bodysuit that made use of the body heat, turning it into energy later used for crypto mining.
